Black Hawk and A Dove

The wind’s body, blustery and bracing,
The breath of leaves,
Blow across the seas,
Petals of rose buds, to scatter,
Against the storm,
Lost,
A black hawk and a dove,
A protector of the pharaoh,
A peaceful mediator,
To rise above in sweeping song,
To uncover our souls,
At the bottom of the ocean,
We misplaced our hearts,
Our eyes to see,
The perfection of the deep blue,
The pearls which dawn our day,
Our hands to feel the power of the wave,
The ripple runs through our veins,
Deep rooted in the tiny grains of sand,
Under our feet,
The hourglass flows on.

As a child, my imagination would run wild, conjuring up magical stories and characters. I loved creativity writing. I owe my love of writing to my mother, who would read to me every night.
It wasn’t until I started university, as a mature age student; that I realised writing was no longer a hobby, but something I wanted to take seriously.
Like most writers, the passion and need to write, took over and became so much more than an interest. Yet a profound desire, to put pen to paper. To share a little part of me, with others.
So here I am; a writer, student, mother and most recently a blogger at Ink and Quill. Ink and Quill is a collection of my poetry, prose and fiction. A place of originality and quirkiness. A place where I can express myself, learn, develop and share my writings.
Since starting my blog. I have connected with exceptionally talented people from around the world and my writing has progressed immensely and my love of poetry has flourished. Ink and Quill is a part of me, which I want to share with you.

I grew up in Port Macquarie, a small coastal town, on the Mid North Coast of NSW in Australia. The beach was a big part of my life growing up. Still to this day, I find solace by the ocean. When I am by the sea my mind is clear and my writing free. I feel like I’m home.
Whilst the beach was the backdrop of my childhood memories, so too was the countryside and horse riding with my father. I was blessed to have both ocean and country.
That’s the beauty of Australia, the diversity in landscape and seasons. Ranging from beautiful rich and colourful cities, to spectacular coastal towns, to the dirt plains of the outback, to the cold winters down south. From blaring heat; mugginess to dry, to snow-capped mountain and ski fields.
Today I live on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Another picturesque coastal city. With beaches, stretching down the coastline, and hinterland hideaways to the west.
I have travelled the world and experienced other ways of life. I have been moved by the stories of others, and often dream of travelling again. Yet, there is something beautiful and captivating about exploring your own country and I think that’s just what I will do next. Australia is a big place, lots to discover.
